"Before any painting, there is a sketchbook. That's where it all begins, drawings without a specific destination, in which Viviane Teixeira's unconscious manifests itself freely. Her sketchbooks are like a guiding thread that runs through her trajectory from the beginning; the artist doesn't so much decide what to paint, but listens to what the images want to tell her."
The works presented at Arpa are developments of “Between Feathers and Plumes, the Eye of God,” a solo exhibition held at Galeria Movimento in September 2025, which included critical text by Anna Bella Geiger. From then on, something transformed in Viviane's universe; the characters that inhabited her paintings since 2013—hybrid figures of a fantastical court, sovereign and archetypal—left the scene, leaving behind the elements present in the paintings such as birds, flowers, and the atmosphere.

The works presented at ArPa 2026 are developments of Entre Penas e Plumas, o Olho de Deus, a solo exhibition held at Galeria Movimento in September 2025, which featured a critical text by Anna Bella Geiger. From that moment on, something shifted in Viviane's universe: the characters that had inhabited her paintings since 2013 – hybrid figures from a fantastical court, sovereign and archetypal – exited the scene, leaving behind the elements that had always been present in the paintings, such as birds, flowers, and atmosphere."

Everything is painting. Everything reveals an unknown aesthetic solution. All of this, in Viviane, is the result of
countless brushstrokes, some accumulated and others sparse, that transform into feathers and wings of
birds, and sometimes, in flower petals.
The result is not merely creative spontaneity or the vision of naive art. They are visions.
archetypal figures that bring meaning to our current contemporary moment.

Viviane Teixeira is a visual artist and restorer from Rio de Janeiro, with formalized work in drawing and painting. In this new phase, marked by the search for giving life to death and the pursuit of the link between heaven and earth, as well as the interconnection between the microcosm and the macrocosm, forms begin to reveal themselves in a tactile and vigorous painting, in oil on canvas and subordinated to it.
The artist's work stems from a profoundly material painting process, in which dense layers and accumulated brushstrokes create organic textures and form a poetic language that oscillates between the intuitive, the archetypal, and the unconscious.
In 2025, her work received a fundamental reading from Anna Bella Geiger, one of the most important figures in the history of contemporary Brazilian art. Her text became a necessary critical axis for the interpretation of Viviane's research.
Viviane constructs images that move "between nature and spirit," as Anna Bella writes, always operating on the border between matter and poetic impulse.
