 With the installation “Boxes of memories anchored in the skin”, Ilha-Terreiro Edu Monteiro was a finalist for the 2019 Pierre Verger Prize. The work features photographs of Laamb, also known as Senegalese wrestling, printed on sheepskin. This work has a sculptural aspect that evokes the three-dimensionality of African art. The backlighting gives texture to the leather: each skin has a story, a life, which makes each print unique.
