AVESSO DO AVESSO
Curated by: Sharon Battat
2012/August

Avesso do Avesso and the new series of works by Mateu Velasco on his visual philosophy of life or, as a postmodern individual, at the moment. They are graphic reflections on thoughts, feelings and interactions of your routine and daytime dreams captured on wood, canvas and paper.

Their normally very expressive faces are replaced by shapes, colors, patterns and textures that represent the chaotic current of feelings that pass through our minds at different times as we float through life. Acquiring resistance to change in our daily battle, and in the chaos that inhabit some sacred moments of peace.

The creative process has been reversed. This time, the time of brushes and canvases dictated the artist's direction, connecting his thoughts with the world. Ideas and feelings became lines, shapes and colors that each brought a new word. This series accompanies us as a song that becomes the soundtrack of our lives and whose melody continues to be repeated in our heads.
